Short Research Summary:

I am broadly interested in most aspects of molecular evolution. During my graduate studies, I mainly focused on the physical properties of protein structure and the co-evolution of structure and function. Currently, I am studying the effect of function on the dynamics of duplication and divergence. I have also done research in the applications of evolutionary theory to functional annotation of genes and proteins. Along with research into molecular evolution I explore mathematical aspects of graph theory and its applications to biological problems. Lately I have become fascinated by systematics i.e. identification and modeling of cellular control mechanisms. Right now, we are developing tools for de-novo identification of binding sites and cis-regulatory modules.

I am recruiting a group of young energedic students that are interested in evolutionary aspects of protein structure, function and regulation. Of course I am always interested in collaborating with computational as well as experimental scientists.
